How long have you been with Mott MacDonald?
I have been with Mott MacDonald, in the tunnelling division since
the summer of 2003
What did you do before starting at Mott MacDonald?
I spent four years of my life haemorrhaging money at Imperial
College (situated in Kensington!) where I completed my Masters
degree in Civil engineering.
What made you choose your career?
My career was decided just after my GCSE’s. I chose Physics, Maths
and Graphics A-levels for 6th form setting me up for an engineering
degree. I chose engineering because I wanted a career that was
interesting and made me feel like I was making a difference.
What's the best bit of your job?
Working on large high profile jobs and making my own decisions that
make it to final design, liaising with different disciplines,
thinking out of the box, learning new things and the variety of
work you are involved with in tunnelling (geotechnical, structural,
traffic, logistics, risk etc).
What's been your favourite project?
I have worked on many projects in my three years and my current job
(Crossrail) is my favourite. However I was also involved with a
research project for MBT regarding a spray applied waterproof
membrane called Masterseal 345. This was a very interesting project
due to the product itself and my overall involvement on it.
What are your professional interests?
Tunnelling (funny that….), shaft construction, earthquake
engineering
What are your personal interests?
Reading, Photography, World news, Football
